March 13, 2024 - Beginning March 18, 2024, the following areas will be either closed, or open with minimal impact:

  • * Closure - Burr Oak water and electric sites ; as well as restrooms and showers will be closed March 18 - April 18, 2024
  • * Closure - Red Buckeye water and electric sites, screened shelters, primitive campsites, mini cabin, and group dining hall; as well as restrooms in these areas will be tentatively closed April 8 - May 4, 2024.
  • * Minimal Impact Areas - Sections of Park Road 72 from park entrance to the camping loops
Please obey all signs. Expect loud noise from equipment and odor from tar and asphalt. Check back or contact the park for updates.

PARK HUNT DATES:
Oct. 19-20
The Hale Lake Day Use Area, Hale Lake Pavilion, Group Camp sites, Equestrian area, and all trails north of Big Creek will be closed at 10pm the night before the first day of the hunt and will reopen at 8am the day after the hunt.

Nov. 19-21 and Dec. 10-12
The entire park will be closed from noon the day before the first day of the hunt and will reopen at 8am the day after the hunt ends.

Prescribed burns are planned during this timeframe (November-April), depending on weather and other factors. Prescribed fire operations and associated smoke may impact your visit. Some camping areas, lodging facilities, trails, and day-use areas may be closed for public safety. Contact the park to learn how this may affect your stay.

Certain trails are subject to frequent closures due to rain. Please contact the park office for the most up to date information concerning trail closures.

If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

DAY USE FEE: $7 per day, per person 13 and older.

OFFICE AND GATE INFORMATION: Gate Hours: 8am-10pm, daily.

SWIMMING AND BOATING: No swimming/boating. Can't enter the water due to alligators in the park.

OBSERVATORY INFORMATION: The George Observatory is operated by the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Tickets must be purchased in advance at https://www.hmns.org/george-observatory/admission/ . Entry into Brazos Bend State Park is not included with your ticket to the George Obsevatory. Day Passes may be reserved online anytime or at the park headquarters during operating hours. Notes

Gate codes are not given out to customers without a reservation. customers with reservations must contact the park for gate code; otherwise it will be issued when customers register at check in.

Customers with reservations only - arriving after the park gate closes at 10pm must contact the Park office on the day of arrival between 8am and 5pm, identify themselves and Park Staff will give them the gate Code. A Cleaning Deposit for cabin reservations are to be paid over the phone.

FOR SCREENED SHELTER: Campers arriving after the office closes at 5pm must use the Iron Ranger Box and properly fill out all information on self-pay envelopes located next to the Park Headquarters. Instructions for self-pay are posted in side of the building. customers must note if they have a reservation or not and attach the white copy of the self-pay to their windshield and report to the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning to check in.

FOR CABIN: Cabins are kept locked. For arrivals to the Cabin after the office is Closes at 5pm, customers may contact the Park office on the day of their arrival between 8am and 5pm. Payment for the Cleaning Deposit will be requested over the phone. Office Staff will contact Host on Duty to unlock the Cabin. Follow instructions with Iron Ranger and report to the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning to check in and receive keys.

FOR CAMPSITE EQUESTRIAN PRIMITIVE: Campers arriving after the office closes at 5pm must use the Iron Ranger Box and properly fill out all information on self-pay envelopes located next to the Park Headquarters.
