Many parks fill to capacity on weekends and holidays. Pre-purchase a day pass and guarantee your entry and parking. Day passes are:
  • Only valid for entry during the time slot you select. Once you enter, you may stay in the park for the rest of the day.
  • Valid until 10 p.m., unless the park closes earlier.
  • Available up to 1 month in advance.
  • Not transferrable to another person or park.
  • Also sold at the park, if available.


We do not accept Walk-ins for Daily Entrance after we have met our visitation capacity.

VISITATION CAPACITY: To ensure visitor safety and the preservation of significant natural and cultural resources at Balmorhea State Park, day-use visitation is limited to 650 visitors per day.

POOL INFORMATION:
Pool steps are slippery and caution needs to be used when entering and exiting the springs. Spring-fed pool hours are from 8 am to 7:30 pm (or sunset, whichever comes first) year-round. Pool bathhouses close 30 minutes before pool closing.

Swimming is not allowed in the canals.
No lifeguards on duty. Swim at your own risk after signing a liability release.
Children 14 years of age or younger must be supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult over the age of 17 years at all times.

Pool floats are allowed, but they must be soft-sided, inflatable, and no larger than 8 ft. long and 4 ft. wide.
Paddles, oars, and motorized devices of any kind are not allowed in the pool.

No cooking, pets, or glass containers in pool area.
No grills or tents allowed in the pool area. Pop-up covers are allowed.

Scuba instructors must show proof of insurance before diving. Scuba divers must show proof of certification and sign a Diving Agreement before diving and all divers must have a partner. All divers must pay a $5 per person activity fee. Learn more about swimming and diving in the pool here.

Driving Directions

From San Antonio: Take I 10 West to Exit 209 - Balmorhea/Ft. Davis. Take Texas 17 West for 4 miles. Park is on the South side of the road.

From El Paso: Take I 10 East to Exit 192 - Toyahvale. Take FARM ROAD 3078 East for 12 miles. Park is on the South side of the road.
