July 20, 2026 - The park is within an infested zone for the new world screwworm. For the safety of animals and to prevent the spread of this dangerous pest, please inspect pets daily for cuts, wounds and signs of infestation.

If you see animals with unusual wounds or maggots, do not move them. Let someone know where you saw them:

• For pets/livestock: Contact park staff or the Animal Health Commission at (737) 900-7455.
• For wildlife: Contact park staff or call (512) 389-4505.

July 3, 2025 - The boat ramp is closed due to the lake's low level. You can launch boats from shore.

Temperatures can exceed 100 degrees from May to September.

If arriving after the gate closes at 10pm, you will not be allowed to enter until the gate opens at 6am the next day unless you have called to notify the park office by 5pm. Gate codes are not given out to customers without a reservation. Customers with reservations must contact the park for gate code; otherwise it will be issued when customers register at check in. Customers with reservations may choose a site. Customers without a reservation must completely fill out and deposit the correct payment in the self-pay envelope. All customers arriving after hours must register at the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning.
