July 1, 2026 - New world screwworm has been found in parts of Texas.
Check your pets and livestock often. If you see unusual wounds or maggots, do not move the animal. Call the Texas Animal Health Commission at (800) 550 8242 or contact a private veterinarian.
For wildlife with suspicious wounds or maggots, notify park staff or call (512) 389 4505.
April 29, 2026 - Scenic Overlook roadway construction is currently suspended. Two-way traffic has resumed on Park Road 29. The sidewalk remains closed, no pedestrian or biking traffic allowed. Please proceed with caution and follow all posted signage.
Trails in this area remain closed, including parts of the Madrone Trail, Blinn River Trail, and the lower portion of the CCC Entrance Road Trail.
Campsite reminder:
* Beware of feral hogs in the area. Do not leave any food unattended. Hogs will get into coolers/ice chests.
The Live Oak and Persimmon Hill Loops close annually for the winter from December thru February.
