The Lake Tawakoni State Park Headquarters will be closed beginning at 10am December 24, 2024 and will reopen at 8:15am December 26, 2024. Visitors should utilize the self-pay stations located at the front and side of the headquarters buildings during this time.
Prescribed burns are planned during this timeframe (December-April), depending on weather and other factors. Prescribed fire operations and associated smoke may impact your visit. Some camping areas, lodging facilities, trails, and day-use areas may be closed for public safety. Contact the park to learn how this may affect your stay.
The Argentine Ant, an invasive species, has been identified in some campsites in Lake Tawakoni State Park. The ants do not sting. Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept is working with experts to reduce the number of ants without harming the park's natural resources. Before leaving, thoroughly inspect your vehicle, RV, camping gear, and other equipment; If you see the ants, please notify park staff immediately and they can offer guidance for treating.
