Scheduled Closure
August 7, 2024 - Most of the park will be closed January 26 to February 28, 2025 for a construction project on Park Road 11. All areas on the south side of the San Marcos River will be closed including all water/electric campsites, the main trail system, showers, the Refectory building/parking and picnic area. Limited day use and tent camping sites will remain open near Oxbow Lake.

Read through our water safety tips before you visit. Be cautious when swimming in the river. Rain upstream can cause flash flooding.

WARNING: A high risk low water crossing of the San Marcos River running through the park can flash flood with little or no warning. The water in the river can rise from a placid stream to a raging torrent in a few minutes. If you are in the river area & notice the water beginning to rise you should leave the river area IMMEDIATELY.

If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

DAY USE FEE:
$3 per day, per person 13 and older.

OFFICE AND GATE INFORMATION:
Gate is open except when park is flooded.

RENTAL INFORMATION:
2-3 person kayaks, stand up paddle boards by the hour through PaddleEZ.

If arriving after the office closes, customers arriving for Day Use should complete a self-pay envelope, drop the envelope with money or park pass number into the iron ranger and place the sticker on the driver's side windshield. Those who have reserved the Refectory (unless staying overnight) should clean the area and vacate the facility by 9pm. All Day Use customers must depart the park by 10pm.

FOR CABIN:
Customers can call 830-672-3266 within office hours to obtain key box code. The key box alongside the door has the key to the front door and rocking chairs. Late arrivals may wake to find an Entrance Permit/Registration Notice on their vehicle which serves as a reminder to complete their reservation (pay outstanding balance/entry fees/key deposit). All customers arriving after hours must register at the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning.

FOR GROUP CAMP:
Every effort should be made to arrive within office hours and submit payment for the outstanding balance/entry fees. After hour arrivals are welcomed to enter the area and spend the night. Late arrivals may wake to find an Entrance Permit/Registration Notice on their vehicle which serves as a reminder to complete their reservation. All customers arriving after hours must register at the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning.
