July 31, 2026 - Trail Racing Over Texas is holding a run in the park Expect heavy traffic on trails for the following dates:
* Saturday September 12 from 5pm-Midnight
* Saturday November 7 from 6am to 7pm or later.

on October 18th. The park will be busier than normal.
Expect heavy traffic on the trail system from 6am – 6pm. Note some runners will remain on the trails for an extended time as this is a last man standing race.

PARK HUNT DATES:
Nov. 30 - Dec. 3, Jan. 4-7
The entire park will close at 12pm the day before the first day of the hunt and will reopen at 8am the day after the hunt ends.

June 17, 2026 - Expect standing water throughout the park due to recent rainfall.

May 4, 2026 - The park is hosting a Trail of Terror Halloween event on October 10. The Primitive Group Camp, Primitive Campsites, Bullinger Lodge, and Bullinger Dining Hall will be closed for the event.
Expect heavier traffic than usual for the event.
Halloween Decorations will also be present in the Day-Use Area, as well as along portions of the Pileated and Nature Trails throughout the month of October.

Trails may be closed due to poor conditions or weather. Please contact the park prior to arrival for current information.

August 24, 2026 - Burn ban in effect until further notice. No ash-producing fires (wood or charcoal). Containerized fuel stoves (i.e. propane) are permitted.

No RVs or Pop Up Trailers allowed in tent sites #41 - #80 and primitive sites #81 - #105, Also no RVs or Pop Ups allowed at Group Camp Sites.

Generators are not allowed

Quiet time is between 10pm and 6am

As with all state parks, pets are not allowed inside any Texas State Park buildings and or shelter(s). Pets cannot be left unattended at any time.

The Park Hours are 8AM-10PM; Campers with reservations need to contact Park Headquarters for late arrivals at 979-885-3613.

If you are arriving after 10PM Monday – Sunday, contact the Park Headquarters before 1PM.

If you are a late arrival, stop at the kiosk located outside the front office, obtain a map, fill out a self-pay envelope with all information required and insert payment, drop into the self-pay box. Customers must note if they have a reservation or not and attach the white copy of the self-pay to their windshield.

FOR SCREENED SHELTER/BARRACKS/BUNKHOUSE: Facility will be unlocked prior to arrival. If arriving after hours Monday – Sunday contact the Park Headquarters before 1PM.

If you are a late arrival, stop at the kiosk located outside the front office, obtain a map, fill out a self-pay envelope with all information required and insert payment, drop into the self-pay box. Customers must note if they have a reservation or not and attach the white copy of the self-pay to their windshield.

All late arrivals must report to the Park Headquarters by 9AM the next morning to complete check in.
