Alerts and Important Information

Prescribed burns are planned during the timeframe of August-April, depending on weather and other factors. Prescribed fire operations and associated smoke may impact your visit. Some camping areas, lodging facilities, trails, and day-use areas may be closed for public safety. Contact the park to learn how this may affect your stay.

September 6, 2024 - Due to recent rains, the lake's level has risen and it has reopened for boating. The lake is near 8 percent capacity and one boat ramp is open. Watch for debris that may have washed in during rain events.

PARK HUNT DATES:
Nov. 29-Dec. 5, Jan. 21-23, Mar. 31-Apr. 3
All trails North of the Burkett Trailhead, and Bald Eagle, North Concho, and Riverbend Camping Areas will close at 5pm the day before the first day of the hunt and will reopen at 8am the day after the hunt ends.

Oct. 27-29
The Red Arroyo, Isabel Harte, and Riverbend Camping Areas, and All trails in the park will close at 5pm the day before the first day of the hunt ans will reopen at 8am the day after the hunt ends.

February 6, 2024 - The Bald Eagle Campground Dump Station at San Angelo SP is closed for maintenance/repairs effective immediately, until further notice. There is a dump station in the North Concho Equestrian Campground as well as one on the south side of the park in the Red Arroyo Campground that can be used in the meantime.

If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

DAY USE FEE:
$4 per day, per person 13 and older.

OFFICE AND GATE INFORMATION:
Entrance Gates are open 6:00am – 10:00pm
South Shore Gatehouse Hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm daily.

North Shore Gatehouse Hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm daily, as staffing allows.

Red Arroyo, Isabel Harte Primitive Area, Limited Use cabins, and the Lakeview Day Use Area are closest to the South Shore Gate.
Bald Eagle and North Concho Campgrounds are closest to the North Shore Gate.

If you will be a late arrival, you must call the park prior to 5pm on arrival date for late arrival instructions - 325-949-4757 option 4.

Interpretive Tour Fees: Petroglyph, Permian Era Tracks, Longhorn, Bison, Dave Macey's Grave & Star Gazing. Contact Park for more information or reservations 325-949-4757.

Access to 40+ miles of multi-use trails from either N. or S. entrance. Watering troughs located throughout trails. Camping also available. Park has a small portion of the Texas Bison herd and official Texas Longhorn herd.

FOR SOUTH SHORE RESERVATIONS:
If you know in advance that you will be arriving after 4:30 pm, please call the park at 325-949-4757 option 4, for information and instructions. If arriving after the park and gate(s) has closed, there are after hour's telephone numbers posted on the kiosk. The kiosk is approximately 200 feet from the gate that crosses the driveway, on the other side of the gatehouse.

FOR NORTH CONCHO - CAMPSITE EQUESTRIAN ELECTRIC/CAMPSITE EQUESTRIAN PRIMITIVE
If you know in advance that you will be arriving after 4:30 pm, please call the park at 325-949-4757 option 4, for information and instructions. If arriving after hours, travel 200 yards north to the Bald Eagle campground entrance. The kiosk is approximately 150 yards from the gate that crosses the driveway, to the right of the gatehouse.

FOR BALD EAGLE - CAMPSITE ELECTRIC/CAMPSITE PRIMITIVE:
If you know in advance that you will be arriving after 4:30 pm, please call the park at 325-949-4757 option 4, for information and instructions. If arriving after the park and gate(s) has closed, there are after hour's telephone numbers posted on the kiosk. The kiosk is approximately 150 yards from the gate that crosses the driveway, to the right of the gatehouse.
