Alerts and Important Information

April 19, 2024 - The northern section of the Red Lakefront Trail and Penitentiary Hollow (including rock climbing activities) will be closed April 18 & 19, 2024 for prescribed burns. Smoke may linger for a few days after the burn is complete. Contact the park or check back for updates.

Prescribed burns are planned during this timeframe (November-April), depending on weather and other factors. Prescribed fire operations and associated smoke may impact your visit. Some camping areas, lodging facilities, trails, and day-use areas may be closed for public safety. Contact the park to learn how this may affect your stay.

August 15, 2022 - This county is under a quarantine to prevent the spread of the emerald ash borer to other areas of the state. This means movement of firewood is restricted.
Please buy firewood where you burn it to prevent the spread of diseases and pests.

January 20, 2022 - The Trailway is closed from FM1195 in Mineral Wells to Vietnam Memorial Museum, for repair until further notice. Please observe the closure for your safety. Contact the park for more information.

If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

DAY USE FEE:
$7 per day, per person 13 and older.
$5 per day, per person fee for climbing/rappelling.

OFFICE AND GATE INFORMATION:
Gate is open from 6am to 10pm.

Due to High volume of trail use, trails may be closed to all users after any wet weather to preserve the natural features.

Swimming allowed in designated area. Flood Alert Info Line: 940-328-1171. There are primitive sites which are available first come first serve. They are a hike in of 2 1/2 miles. No ground fires in primitive camping area.
