The State Natural Area is accessed by a county road, Dolan Creek Rd. (a rough gravel surface 22 miles from Highway 277). The nearest full service station is 65 miles away in Del Rio. Dolan Falls is not located on the State Natural Area.
Other than access to the Devils River via the Day Use area of the State Natural Area, the only other public access points are where the river crosses Hwy 163 and from Rough Canyon Marina on Lake Amistad. All other lands outside the park are privately owned. Camping outside designated public sites is likely trespassing & is illegal.
For paddlers engaging in overnight river trips, Primitive campsites by the river are available 7 days a week. For use, Devil's River Access permits and camp reservations are required and need to be reserved in advance.
