Alerts and Important Information

December 16, 2024 - Burn ban in effect until further notice. No wood or charcoal fires are allowed. You may use containerized fuel stoves (i.e. propane) for cooking.

Prescribed burns are planned during this timeframe (September-March), depending on weather and other factors. Prescribed fire operations and associated smoke may impact your visit. Some camping areas, lodging facilities, trails, and day-use areas may be closed for public safety. Contact the park to learn how this may affect your stay.

PARK HUNT DATES:
Nov. 23-25, Jan. 14-16
The entire park including Honey Creek and the Bauer Unit, will be closed from 8pm the night before the first day of the hunt until Noon the day after the last day of the hunt.

When the park reaches maximum capacity, it will close to day-use visitors. Closures are common on holidays and on weekends (from Memorial Day through Labor Day). If you are planning to visit for the day, please arrive early and have a back-up plan in case of a closure. Customers with camping reservations will be able to enter during these closures.

Contact the park or visit our Facebook page, prior to arrival, as trails may be closed due to poor conditions or weather.

If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

DAY USE FEE:
$7 per day, per person 13 and older.

OFFICE AND GATE INFORMATION:
Gate is open from 8am to 10pm. If you will be a late arrival, you must call the park prior to 4:30pm on arrival date for late arrival instructions.

Office is open year round daily 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Ice, firewood, T-shirts, and books are for sale at the park headquarters.

Styrofoam and glass prohibited in the day use area along the river banks, and while on the river.

PARK PHONE NUMBER: 830-438-2656

Notes

If arriving after office hours for Day Use, follow the posted self-pay instructions.

If you have a campsite reservation and know you will arrive after 4:30pm, please call the park before 4:30 pm to obtain instructions and gate code. A reservation list will be posted in the bulletin board at the sliding door. All customers arriving after hours must register at the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning.

Overnight campers without a reservation must stop at the office and check the bulletin board on the side of the office at the sliding glass door for open sites. Count the number of reservations and open sites in an area to insure all reservations have a site before you can stay. If there are more open sites than reservations, you should have an opportunity to stay. Campers may pay for one night only using the self-pay station and return to the office to register by 9am the next morning.
